For this project, I wanted to break down an old, rotting chair into its component parts and imagine new ways the wood pieces could be put back together utilizing the folding mechanism. I came up with a design that flipped one side of the chair upside down while still using the original folding mechanism to functionally move between an open and closed state. Deriving its name from Boccioni’s Development of a Bottle in Space, this piece is meant to capture the dynamic nature of the wooden folding chair and its component parts.
